Who is Your Favorite Local DJ?
This time around, Do512 wants to know who your favorite local DJ is? Maybe he/she has a weekly residency around town, maybe they’re local but play once a blue moon, maybe its your frat buddy who spins his 1′s and 2′s in the dorm room. We don’t care, we want to hear it all (just not a radio DJ, this isn’t that kind of survey). Let us know and one of you will score a pair of free tix. There’s a lot of great shows coming up, just something to think about….

I have a handful of favorite DJs. It would be mean of me to list just one, so I will list them all
Hip-Hop; Protege, Swing, Digg, Kid Slyce, Crown, Kurupt
House; Toddy B, Jesse Brede, Thibault, Gmau
Dance/Party; TRU, Crown, Protege, Swing, Thibault
Any of these guys can get the party started and keep it going til the sun comes up! They can mix genres like no others and will always have a crowd!!

I have a few favorites.
DJ Scorpio and DJ Scandalizer spinning lots of great 60s and 70s tunes.
And thank goodness DJ Sue in back in Austin and spinning a fabulous collection of popular and rare 60s tunes at her monthly Fuzz Club event (being held at Scoot Inn).

Pelegrosa is hands down the best time you can have, usually at Creekside, DJs Orion and Manolo Black play everything, todo! From Cumbias to funk that’s slick and slimy, hehe. They are on to something creative as they have a great crossover audience. DJ E B Lo is ricking as well.

DJ 2DQ definitely! Although alot of these other djs named are good. They dont play for half the audience DJ 2DQ plays for. Im not talking about the thousands listening on the Radio im talking about Club(s) capacity. Bars maybe a lil over a hundred. Nastys maybe 50 to 75 people. His venues 300, 500, 800 easy! Austin is lucky to have him
February 9, 2009 at 6:20 am. Permalink.
Jacoby replied:
Dj Mel definitely. He packs in Nasty’s every week (way over 50 to 75 people, Valerie) & he’s been doing it for over 12 years. Not only does he pack every venue he plays locally, he played at Lollapalooza last year and plays all over North America on a regular basis. Garden variety, radio dj’s are the same everywhere, I’d pick Mel against any of them.

lol Jacoby where else does he play and pack? Other than nastys that holds well over 50, 75 people. Ive been there before about 3 months ago. I will say he is a great dj. But i need to go see him and the newly remodeled Nastys. Because you say now it holds over 75 people…lol

I like Dj Kosta because he does his own original mixes and involves himself in the hip hop crowd as well as house, progressive, bmore, electro and experimental genres. He does live mash ups, and plays what the people want to hear. For sure a party dj with an eclectic taste.
I think he should make his own cd’s.
