Saxon Pub Platinum Songwriters Showcase hosted by BMI

BMI is coming to town to feature artists who have penned hits for stars. One Saturday a month for the next four months, BMI and host singer/songwriter Monte Warden will bring in a variety of guests for special performances followed by a 30-45 minutes q&a session from the audience. Sounds pretty neat. Full lineup below.


Saturday, July 26
with Brice Long & Tommy Conners
In addition to Gary Allan’s no. 1 hit “Nothing On But the Radio,” Brice Long has written tunes for Josh Turner, John Michael Montgomery, Randy Travis, and more, while Tommy Conners’ songs have been recorded by heavyweights including Willie Nelson, John Michael Montgomery, Trace Adkins and Patty Loveless.

Saturday, August 23
with Liz Rose & Walt Wilkins
Hit songwriter Liz Rose’s collaborations with Taylor Swift including “Tim McGraw” and “Teardrops On My Guitar” helped catapult country’s new golden girl to super stardom, while pensive troubadour Walt Wilkins’ résumé includes Pat Green anthems and acclaimed indie albums with his band The Mystiqueros.

Saturday, September 27
with Wil Nance & Thom Shepherd
Honky tonker Wil Nance’s slew of hits includes George Strait’s “Round About Way,” Brad Paisley’s “She’s Everything,” and Joe Nichols’ “Cool To Be A Fool,” while Thom Shepherd’s hits include Craig Morgan’s no. 1 “Redneck Yacht Club,” and David Balls’ “Riding with Private Malone,” along with tunes for George Jones, Montgomery Gentry, Joe Nichols and Texan Kevin Fowler.

Saturday, October 26
with Phil Thomas & Jon Randall
Veteran troubadour Phil Thomas composed country classics including George Strait’s “Baby Your Baby,” and Johnny PayCheck’s “Colorado Kool-Aid” and “Me and the IRS,”  while in addition to penning the Brad Paisley/Alison Krauss smash “Whiskey Lullaby,” singer, songwriter and guitarist Jon Randall is an alumnus of bands backing Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Sam Bush and many more.
