Nylon Summer Music Tour at Antone’s
Pop culture and fashion magazine NYLON are wrapping up their second-annual NYLON Summer Music Tour at Antone’s on Wednesday, July 1st. The tour offers an exciting lineup of innovative rock’n’roll from NYLON Records’ own Patrick Wolf and Plastiscines, along with Living Things and Jaguar Love.
Touring in support of his new album “The Bachelor”, flashy English pop artist Patrick Wolf is back in North America with a full band for the first time since his “Magic Position” tour in 2007. In line with the expanded instrumentation on his new record, Patrick’s improved mastery of his craft brings darker, heavier, and louder elements to the live show – even including a guitar for the first time.
All-female French rock band The Plastiscines are another highlight of the tour. They have been hailed as France’s most exciting new rock band, with an addictive garage sound that gave them a hit, 2007’s “Loser,” while still in high school. Their second full length album (due in August) was recorded with producer Butch Walker (Katy Perry, Pink, Avril Lavigne) and mix-master Claudius Mittendorfer (Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Muse). The Plastiscines have been selling out shows across the U.S. and also landed a spot on the bill at Coachella.
Jaguar Love is the wild concoction of vocalist Johnny Whitney and guitarist Cody Votolato from the Blood Brothers, along with drummer Jay Clark from Pretty Girls Make Graves. Drawing from their previous projects the group came together seamlessly, and signed to Matador Records in January of 2008. Their songs borrow from rock, pop, folk, punk, and each new song is surprising in one way or another.
