Robert Cray at Antone’s

This Friday, Rozone Productions is pleased to bring us the epicenter of the 1980’s blues revival – Robert Cray. As an incredible blues guitarist and singer, Cray lends homage to icons such as Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, and Freddie King through musical influences present in his own work. Robert Cray is a musical genius with a laundry list of highly acclaimed performances dating back to the beginning of his career in the 70’s. His show at Antone’s this weekend will be no exception.

With the release of his latest and first studio album on his own imprint Nozzle Records, This Time, Robert Cray has commenced a national tour to include our favorite stop – Austin, Texas. As This Time is to hit stores around mid-August, a mid-July performance in the “Live Music Capital of the World” is going to be, without a doubt, a very high quality gig. Joining him on stage will be Austin musician JJ Usher along with local band Doc and the Medicine Man.

Tickets for this show are available now at and Do512 will be giving away 2 pairs of tickets for this one. To qualify, all you have to do is click “I Like It!” on the event listing.

There are not many albums that got more spins on the turntable in my youth than Robert Cray ‘Strong Persuader’. It wasn’t until after I moved to Austin that I learned of his Austin roots. Last saw him in San Antonio when he opened for Eric Clapton and it’s hard to tell who is a better guitarist. Yep, I said it!
