The Alice Rose at La Zona Rosa, 8/29

Having recently dropped their In A Daze EP  last month,  Austin’s own The Alice Rose will be serving up their hot new pop confections at the La Zona Rosa stage come August 29th. Their 2006 LP, Phonographic Memory, was hailed by NPR as “special…both strangely familiar and utterly new,” with some serious kudos to the band for possessing the “ability to mine that place in the hippocampus where beloved melodies and the bittersweet moment they memorialize commingle.”  A few singles later, their All Haunt’s Sound LP brought a subtle psychadelic flavor to their normal Brit-inspired sound. Now, the In A Daze EP reiterates the group’s knack for pop creation, with a title track that is both haunting and sincere.

Joining The Alice Rose is Austin’s Stereo Is A Lie, an ensemble brought together by Nottingham natives Davy Hamrick, Justin Scott, Danny Stapleton, Brandon Tucker, and Glynn Wedgewood. Though having just played their first show last November, Stereo Is A Lie has gained its live music momentum, catching the attention of 101X’s Toby Ryan at SXSW 2009 and earning themselves quite the Austin following.

Also on the bill is Austin/Ft. Worth based Stella Rose, an edgy Black Rebel Motorcycle Club-esque rock outfit with a growing fan base in both cities. Word on the street is that their performances are so drivingly fierce that drummer Matthew Mabe is prone to de-shirting midshow.

The show starts at 8pm at La Zona Rosa. RSVP at Do512 for 1/2 off entry! Entry is otherwise available for $10 at the door.
