Sleep When You’re Dead Tour at La Zona Rosa
After embarking on the Sleep When You’re Dead Tour in August, the five-piece girl band, Sick of Sarah, finally rolls into Austin tonight!!! Although your most recent favorite ass-kicking girl group might have been the Spice Girls (via 10 years ago), don’t be fooled into thinking that this rocking set of chicks can pass by unnoticed. Sick of Sarah, the 4-year-old “indie pop-rock group” composed of five girls in their 20-somethings who hail from Minneapolis, MN, cruise into Austin to play the Warehouse district hot spot, La Zona Rosa. Praised by Adamant Records as “an all-female band with catchy hooks, unique lyrics, and thoughtful well-crafted music…display[ing] talent, passion, and an ever-present sense of humor that shapes many of their songs,” Sick of Sarah manages to acoustically charm like a Tegan and Sara while packing a unique electrified punch a la The Breeders. Having released their self titled debut album in summer 2008, the members of this all-girl band cite their diverse individual tastes in music, the eclectic mix of iconic talent that has emerged from their city, and key acts such as Joan Jett, John Fogherty, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Bangles, Journey, and Vanessa Carlton as a “melting pot” of influences on their own work. The girls personally describe their jams as “crazy, fun, and obnoxious,” and specific favorites on their track list include “Bittersweet”, “The Best Thing”, and “Common Mistake.”
Hitting the stage with them will be a fellow Minneapolis band–sibling pop-rock trio, Lynhurst. Leaving school to pursue rock and roll musical aspirations, these siblings are currently promoting their latest album Field Day on their first ever national tour. Led by the mesmerizing vocals of sister Mari, the trio successfully blends sweet/sassy pop-rock with a subtle lyrical bite.
The show goes down TONIGHT (October 26th) at 8:00pm at La Zona Rosa. Click here to check out the event page!
