SXSW is becoming a worldwide phenomenon, as multiple acts seep into our city from multiple continents for one spectacular week in March. On Friday, March 19th, Japan officially has their turn to showcase the incredible talent that they have to offer in an SXSW show featuring JinnyOops!, Riddim Saunter, OKAMOTO’S, Red Bacteria Vacuum, Omodaka, CHATMONCHY, and Dolly at Red River hot spot, Elysium. From 7PM until the early hours of Saturday morning, Japan Nite will showcase a variety of Japanese acts, ranging from electronic wizardry and all-girl punk to Japanese rock and garage jams.

THE LINEUP:

7PM: JinnyOops!–a group of roaring garage punk girls from Sakai city Osaka

8PM: Riddim Saunter— a 6 piece band who blend punk, rock, hip-hop and soul into unique and original jams

9PM: OKAMOTO’S–19-year-old Japanese rockers who can seriously channel the spirit of The Rolling Stones

10PM: Red Bacteria Vacuum–a hard rockin’ all-girl punk trio who will give you nightmares!

11PM: Omodaka–an otaku wizard of electronic music

12AM: CHATMONCHY— three chicks from Japan who know how to ROCK OUT

1AM: Dolly–A visually and sonically intriguing “Visual-kei” band named after the famous cloned sheep, Dolly

The Japan Nite showcase has been the most popular Japanese live band show since 1996, and bringing together such an eclectic group of Japanese artists, it continues to introduce Austin to a wide range of unique music styles. The artists embark on a Japan Nite US tour following their SXSW showcase, so make sure you catch them while you can! The first 100 people who attend Japan Nite 2010 receive FREE sampler CD’s, and if you don’t get in there early (which you should because this party is gonna be PACKED), then the next 50 people WHO MENTION DO512 will also have a chance to receive a free CD Sampler featuring the Japan Nite artists!

Head over to the event page to learn more about the event! SEE YOU THERE!
